MBA Admissions Open At Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship (ABVSEM) In JNU

The newly-setup Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship (ABVSEM) in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has opened admission for the first batch (2019-20) of its two-year full-time MBA program.

The applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if she/he submits a certificate by a certain date (to be decided by the University in due course).

For General Category candidates a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required. For OBC candidates a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required.

For SC/ST/PWD candidates a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required.

The final list of selected candidates will be based on CAT scores and the marks obtained in the interview. The weightage on CAT scores will be 70% and the weightage of marks obtained in the interviews will be 30%.

Rs 2000 is to be paid by General Category and OBC applicants and Rs 1000 by SC/ST/PwD applicants.

You have to submit scores the Common Admission Test (CAT) in 2018 conducted by IIMs. All candidates applying for admission to the program must submit his/her CAT Test Registration Number.

The University will use CAT scores for short-listing/selecting the candidates. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the program.

The shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an interview. At least three times the number of intake in each category would be shortlisted for the interviews.

The final list of selected candidates will be based on CAT scores and the marks obtained in the interview. The weightage on CAT scores will be 70% and the weightage of marks obtained in the interviews will be 30%.

While strictly following the reservation policy as per Government rules, since MBA is a professional course, no additional deprivation points (as it may be the case in some other JNU courses) will be taken into consideration for admission, the University said.

ABVSME will admit 50 students each year for the MBA program.

Admission Schedule

The online application process will begin on January 20, 2019, from 10:00 AM and close on March 1 at 11:59 PM. The interview of short-listed candidates will be held on April 15, 16 and 18. The final results will be declared on April 26.

The booking of seats will begin on May 3 at 10:00 AM and close on May 6 at 11:59 PM. A second list, if needed, will be released on May 10 for which booking of seats will start from May 10 at 10:00 AM and close on May 14 at 11.59 PM. The academic session will start in July 2019.
