IIM Kozhikode To Waive PGP Tuition fee for 12 Top Ranked Students

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) has announced that it will waive the tuition fees for top-ranked candidates across the board among female, male, non-creamy layer other backward class (NC-OBC), scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST) and persons with disabilities (PwD) categories.

The full tuition fee waiver will be available for 12 top-ranked students in all these categories enrolling for the two-year full-time Post-Graduate Program (PGP) in management with the session beginning in June. This batch comprises students from Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Telangana and Gujarat.

  • In 2012, IIM-K had cut its tuition fee by Rs 30,000. Students from families with an annual income of Rs 100,000 or less could avail of the full fee waiver granted to one per cent of the students having a proven record of excellence in academics, sports, extra-curricular or social activities through awards or recognition at the national or international level
  • A full fee waiver is available for 1% of students having a proven record of excellence in academics, sports, extra-curricular or social activities through awards or recognition at the national or international level. The IIM also grants a half fee waiver to children of defence or allied services who were injured during action and lost their earning capacity.

Earlier in 2012, the IIM had cut its tuition fee by Rs 30000. IIM-K Director Debashis Chatterjee said while the institute celebrates talent, it also ensures greater diversity. More than 10% of the students come from families with an annual income of Rs 100,000 or less. They are protected from steep fee hikes as most of them depend on educational loans.

The IIM also grants a half fee waiver to children of defence or allied services who were injured during action and lost their earning capacity.

This could range from full fee waiver to 1% of students having a proven record of excellence in academics, sports, extra-curricular or social activities through awards or recognition at the national or international level. A full fee waiver is also offered to children of martyrs belonging to the military, paramilitary or police force.
