IIMA Launches Its First Online e-PGP Program for Working Executives

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has launched a new two-year e-Post Graduate Programme in Management (ePGP) for working executives and entrepreneurs that combines online and classroom learning.

Hughes Global Education, an online learning solutions provider is the technology partner for the program that marks IIMA’s entry into online education.

IIM-A Director Ashish Nanda said the course has been designed to enable entrepreneurs and working executives to add value to their professional functioning and to enable them gain knowledge in various areas of management.

This is the wave of future. This course is targeted at junior, mid and senior level professionals and entrepreneurs seeking skills and strategies to take their organisations to the next level,” Nanda said. The fees of the programme is pegged at Rs 17 lakh (excluding taxes) for the two-year period.

IIMA has not put any limit on on the number of seats and propose to expand the faculty strength to meet the growing requirements, he added.

The Institute also propose to launch six other hybrid programmes, three in partnership with Hughes Global Education and the remaining in a tieup with NIIT. The programs would include business financing, business analysis and advanced general management among others, Nanda said.

While Hughes is already engaged in offering similar programs at other business institutes, the one being introduced in IIMA would be much more intensive and rigorous, Partho Banerjee, President & Managing Director, Hughes Communications India Ltd., said. “We have set up 80 tech-enabled classrooms across 45 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai, among others,” he added.

There are many modes of online learning including video conference and audio conference. However, with IOL platform, we have tried to simulate classrooms as much as possible,” Banerjee said.

The program, starting in June 2017 will have 800 classroom instruction hours, during evening hours or over the weekends to suit the convenience of working executives or business owners.

Admission criteria

Candidates should be graduates with at least 50% aggregate and minimum three years of work experience. They will have to appear for either GMAT, CAT or IIM Admission Test (IAT) the scores of which will be taken into consideration for admission.

Curriculum

The compulsory core courses will be covered during the first year, followed by a bouquet of elective courses in the second year. Three campus modules are planned as an integral part of the program.(Image Source:Wikipedia.org)
