IIMA Ties Up With NIIT And Hughes To Launch E-Learning Initiatives

In an attempt to promote e-learning initiatives, IIM Ahmedabad has tied up with NIIT and Hughes for delivery of synchronous studio-to-classroom programs.

“Information Technology is creating significant disruptions and opportunities in the higher-education sector. Increasingly, delivery of high-quality management education is becoming feasible through technology,” IIMA Director Prof. Ashish Nanda said at the announcement of the launch of several e-learning programmes over the next few months. The decision was taken on June 1,2016.

IIMA is committed to innovating in this space and leveraging technology to provide the best quality educational experience to leaders that make a difference,” he added.

IIMA proposes to extend e-learning initiatives to distant learning programmes as well as blended courses. Some of these would be aimed at working executives as they offer a high degree of flexibility and convenience.

The Institute inked the agreement with Hughes on June 1 and the one with NIIT in May.

Referring to NIIT’s long-standing ties with IIMA from the year 2006, NIIT CEO Rahul Patwardhan said the company’s pioneering Synchronous Learning Technology was brought in to offer quality executive management programs to young professionals across the country.

As a leading player in educational technology in India, NIIT has been at the forefront of technological & pedagogical innovations in learning, he said.

IIM Ahmedabad has consistently been ranked as the number one management school in the country in the last several years. In 2008, it also became the first business school in the country to be awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation.

This accreditation awarded by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) certifies that the quality of IIMA’s academic processes and programmes are on par with the best business schools globally that have similar accreditation.

IIM Ahmedabad has brought about many changes and innovations in its PGP, PGP-FABM, and PGPX programs effective from academic session 2015-16.
