IIM Kozhikode Final Placement 2019: Average Salary Up 16% at Rs 23.74 Lakh

Final Placement for the PGP batch of 2017-2019 at IIM Kozhikode saw a 16% increase in the average salary at 23.74 lakh for the top 50% of the students and Rs 15.05 lakh for the rest.

With the entire process being completed within a record period of just 6 days, all the 366 participating students were absorbed in various posts by 107 recruiters who came up with 390 offers. The companies, 50% of whom featuring in Fortune 500, also included 21, participating for the first time in the placement.

While the Top 10 percentile bagged Rs 32.86 lakh, the Top 25 percentile got Rs 27.05 lakh and the Top 50 percentile Rs 23.75 lakh. The mean CTC was Rs 20.67 lakh, median CTC Rs 18.80 lakh and highest CTC Rs 40.50 lakh.

Major Recruiters

The students were offered roles in several domains including Investment Banking by Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase; Consulting and Strategy by Bain & Co., BCG, Mckinsey & Co., and Deloitte;

Operational Leadership roles were offered by Amazon and HUL. Capgemini, Mahindra, RPG, and TAS offered roles aimed at accelerated leadership positions.

Women to the Fore

With 26% of the 21st batch of the 2-year full-time Post-Graduate Program (PGP) comprising of women, IIM Kozhikode has once again displayed how much it values diversity and the idea of equal opportunity, the Institute said in the Placement report.

A number of roles were extended to women by reputed organizations like BCG, Citibank, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, HUL, ITC, Mahindra and several others. Goldman Sachs conducted the Women Emerging in Finance session on campus and also hired in large numbers.

Keeping in with the need for increasing women participation in management studies, IIMK has announced an increase of 60 seats just for women, for the upcoming batch, making it the first in its league.

More than 21% of the total offers were in the finance domain with a 15% rise in average CTC at 18.41 lakh and the highest CTC at Rs 38.00 lakh.

Domain-wise Placement

Consulting

The Consulting sector that absorbed 30% of the students saw a 20% rise in the average CTC at Rs 20.84 lakh with the highest CTC at Rs 34.00 lakh. The host of marquee recruiters included Bain & Co., BCG, Deloitte, EY, McKinsey & Co., KPMG and PwC. Students were also offered niche roles by firms like Feedback Infra and Avalon Consulting.

Finance

More than 21% of the total offers were in the finance domain with a 15% rise in average CTC at 18.41 lakh and the highest CTC at Rs 38.00 lakh. Top recruiters included Colgate Palmolive, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Piramal, State Street and Yes Bank coming up with offers in Investment Banking, Financial Markets and Corporate Finance.

General Management

General Management vertical that absorbed 10% of the students saw a 10% increase in average CTC at Rs 20.51 lakh and highest CTC at Rs 27.50 lakh. Capgemini ELITE and Tata Sky joined the list of top recruiters like Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra, RPG, and TAS who continued their long-standing association with IIMK.

IT & Analytics

This domain took in 16% of the students with a 4% increase in average CTC at Rs 16.50 lakh and highest CTC at Rs 35.94 lakh. Along with regular recruiters like American Express, Microsoft, Mondelez, Optum, Wipro, new recruiters Citrix and Payoneer also participated in the placement. Students were offered roles in Analytics, Product Management, EA to CXO and allied fields.

Operations

The Operations vertical that absorbed 6% of the students saw a 31% increase in the average CTC offered at Rs 24.24 Lakh. Flipkart and Jubilant FoodWorks – first-time recruiters on the campus, offered multiple roles, while regular recruiter Amazon hired the most number of students.

Sales & Marketing

Sales & Marketing vertical saw over 17% of the students getting offers from marquee recruiters. The average CTC rose 6% at Rs 18.30 lakh and the highest CTC at Rs 30.00 lakh. The recruiters including Asian Paints, HUL, HCCB, ITC, Nestlé and Pidilite offered roles in B2C sales while HP, Lenovo and Samsung offered B2B sales roles.
