The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM C), has become another institute in India to receive the European Foundation for Management Development Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation. IIMC is first management institute in India to be accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.

The EQUIS Accreditation Board had voted on April 12, 2016 to include IIM-C in the group of 73 Business Schools across the world. Only 5 other management institutes in Asia have received EQUIS accreditation so far.

EQUIS, a globally recognized international organization for management development, has more than 800 members from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 81 countries.

IIM-C has also become the only one in India to have gained triple credentials, having won from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Florida, the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the latest from EQUIS. The UK has the highest number of triple accredited B-schools at 20.

AACSB grants internationally recognized, specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level. AMBA accredits just one percent of the world’s MBA business schools and IIM Calcutta got this accreditation within the initial 5-years of its commencement.

IIM-C is the only Indian institution among 30 Schools offering the CEMS Master’s in International Management (CEMS MIM), a postgraduate, pre-experience degree open to a select group of students enrolled in a Master’s programme in one of the CEMS member schools. CEMS is a global alliance of academic and corporate institutions dedicated to educating and preparing future generations of international business leaders.

“We are indeed happy to receive this recognition. It reaffirms our commitment to academic excellence, and marks a significant step towards our journey to be regarded as a global leader in management education,” IMM-C Director Saibal Chattopadhyay said in a press statement.
