Strategy Consulting Tops 100% Summer Placements at IIMB

Summer Placements for the PGP Class of 2017-19 at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) saw 100% recruitment with Strategy Consulting coming up with the highest number of offers at 90.

The placements, held between October 29 and November 1 also had enhanced participation besides higher recruitment by both regular as well as new recruiters across the sectors, IIMB said in a press statement.

As many as 401 eligible candidates were mopped up by the 130 plus companies within the three recruitment slots in roles ranging from Strategy Consulting, Analytics, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, Commercial Banking, Sales and Marketing, Business Leadership, Product Management, Operations, Category Management, IT Consulting and General Management.

In the Strategy Consulting domain with a total 90 offers, Accenture Strategy made 14 offers, followed by A.T. Kearney and Boston Consulting Group with 13 each, Bain & Company with 11, Strategy& along with Roland Berger at 9 each, Deloitte with 7, McKinsey & Company 6, Alvarez & Marsal 4, Arthur D Little and NRI (Nomura) Consulting with 2 each.

“The slight downturn that we observed in the final placements of the batch of 2017, just eight months ago, has been corrected by a major resurge in hiring interest across all sectors for the summer placements,” Prof. Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services at the IIM said.

In the Strategy Consulting domain with a total 90 offers, Accenture Strategy made 14 offers, followed by A.T. Kearney and Boston Consulting Group with 13 each, Bain & Company with 11, Strategy& along with Roland Berger at 9 each, Deloitte with 7, McKinsey & Company 6, Alvarez & Marsal 4, Arthur D Little and NRI (Nomura) Consulting with 2 each.

Harsha Bhattad, Student Placement Representative, said, “IIMB continues to be the preferred campus for consulting, finance and analytics profiles with many firms increasing their usual number of offers. Marketing offers have also substantially increased this year with greater interest from top recruiters and students in this domain.”

Corporate Finance and Commercial Banking recorded 32 offers. Citibank made 4 offers followed by 3 each from Deutsche Bank, HUL Finance, Axis Bank, Reserve Bank of India and RBL Bank. ICICI Bank, Airtel Finance, Standard Chartered Bank and Yes Bank came up with 2 offers each. Bank of America, DBS, Intuit Finance, Metro Cash & Carry and Spandana Sphoorty made 1 offer each.

The Investments and Capital Markets domain saw a total of 27 offers, including 8 by Goldman Sachs followed by 4 each by Barclays, Citibank and JP Morgan. BNY Mellon and JM Financial each came up with 2 offers. Morgan Stanley, Reliance Treasury and Temasek made 1 offer each.

Business Analytics had a total of 21 offers, comprising American Express and KPMG Analytics with 4 each, Goldman Sachs Strats, JP Morgan Quant, Sprinklr and Thoucentric with 3 each and Directi with1 offer completing the picture.

As many as 38 Leadership Track or General Management Track offers were made by international business groups and Indian business conglomerates, including Aditya Birla Group with10, Vedanta 5, Mahindra & Mahindra, Johnson & Johnson and Tata Administrative Services at 4 each. RPG Group and CK Birla Group recruited 3 each and Reliance 2. Bajaj Auto Tolaram and Wipro Global made 1 offer each.

The Marketing and Sales domain had 51 offers, including AB InBev and Hindustan Unilever at 7 each, Proctor & Gamble 5, Mondelez, Asian Paints, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, JSW and Jubilant at 3 each, Marico, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Wipro Consumer and D’décor 2 each, GSK Consumer, Amway, Metro Cash and Carry, BPCL, Drums Food, People Interactive and Sigtuple, 1 each.

As many as 54 offers were made in the E-Commerce and Technology sector led by Amazon with 27). Samsung came up with 6, Flipkart 5, Danaher, InfoEdge and Visa, 3 each. Sterlite and Zynga made 2 offers each followed by Clirnet, Drivezy and Lenskart at 1 each.

In the broad domain of Information Technology (IT) and IT Consulting 23 offers were made comprising from PwC Technology (6), Microsoft (4), Cognizant (3), Asian Paints IT (2), Capgemini (2), Standard Chartered Trans (2), Tata Consultancy Services (2), Hindustan Unilever IT (1) and Procter & Gamble IT (1).

Other major recruiters who made 68 offers included GEP Consulting (6), Airtel (6), IDBI Bank (5), Uber (5), Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (4), Vodafone (4), Samsung Electronics (4), Samsung Products (4), Saint Gobain (3), Mytrah Energy (3), Altisource (3), Synergy Consulting (3), Auctus Advisors (2), Amplus Solar (2), Crisil (2), Mastercard Advisors (2), ReNew Power (2), AstraZeneca (2), GSK Pharma (2), True North (2), Dr. Reddy (1), KPMG Infrastructure (1), Airtel Supply Chain (1), Cloudtail (1), Adzzebra (1) and  Russell Reynolds (1).
