MBA Summer Placement At IIT-K Sees Highest Offer At Rs. 1,10,000

MBA summer placements at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) saw 34 students receiving 42 offers with the average stipend of about Rs. 33,000 and the highest stipend standing at Rs. 1,10,000.

The marketing domain topped the placements with internship offers from several well-known brands including Lava, Godrej, Nielson, ACC and Idea Cellular being mopped up by almost 50% students of the 2015-17 batch.

Consulting & Strategy and Operations came next with 14% each followed by Analytics and Finance at 11% and 9% respectively.

Around 20% of students managed to get multiple offers during the placement process that saw the presence of 30 companies.

The first time recruiters included Godrej, ACC, Indiamart, Nielsen, Arvind Mills and Idea. Other key recruiters were Boeing, Bharat Petroleum, Tata Motors, Policy Bazaar and Deloitte, IIT-Kanpur said in a press statement.

Some of the students got the opportunity to participate in Capstone projects in conjunction with the internship. Summer placements begin at IIT-K from September on a rolling basis.

While 35% of the batch had industry background in IT, 15% were from Manufacturing, 6% each from Government sector and education. The rest were from Energy, Power and Telecom.

The students possessed previous work experience ranging from 0-11 months to more than 36 months. Almost 35 % of them had experience of 12-23 months, followed by 29% (0-11 months) and 21% (24-35 months).
