IIM Shillong 2015 Summer Placements: Sales & Marketing Most Sought After Roles

Sales and marketing was the most sought after domain with 30% of the total offers made in this sector during internship placements at IIM Shillong in 2015.

The offers included one international offer by the Tolaram Group, according to Public Relations and Placement Chairperson Prof Sharad Nath Bhattacharya.

Incidentally, the highest stipend offer was of Rs 1.6 lakh was in the sales and marketing sector. The average total stipend also recorded an increase of 25% over the previous year.

As many as 61 companies had made 174 offers across various domains. The highest number of internships were offered by Ratnakar Bank and Tata Steel who made 9 and 8 offers respectively.

Google, Amazon and L’Oreal, Dabur, OlaCabs, Amazon, Snapdeal, Fidelity Investments, Bajaj Allianz, and Teach for India, were among the first time recruiters.

Bhattacharya said the number of manufacturing, retail and FMCG companies offering internships had gone up by 100%.

Other major companies that came to the campus for offering internships were Mahindra GMC, Aditya Birla Group, Nomura, HSBC, Cognizant Business Consulting, GSK Pharmaceuticals, Sapient Global Markets, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, IBM, Wipro, Hero MotoCorp and FCB Ulka, among others.
