IIM-B to hold CAT 2016

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) will hold CAT 2016, the computer based management aptitude test for candidates seeking admission to the IIMs and several other Business Schools in India.

The test comprises sections on Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

CAT is not an online exam or an Internet-based Test. It is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT). Candidates will have to personally appear at designated test centres for test. Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.

Conducted on an yearly basis by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation, CAT 2015 was conducted by IIM A on November 29, 2015.

Confirming that CAT would be hosted by IIM-B, Institute sources said Professor Rajendra K Bandi will be the convener for the test.

The CAT committee is scheduled to meet later this month to finalise the arrangements for the test. TCS will continue to be the CAT exam test-taking partner.

While no major changes are expected in the test pattern, some aspects like the level of maths and data interpretation may undergo a few tweaks.

The test will be held in October or November and the results will be declared in December 2016 or January 2017.
