Engineering Grads at 104 Dominate Rotman’s Class of 2018

Engineering graduates at 104 dominate the 351-member full time MBA Class of 2018 at the Rotman College of Management, Toronto.

Those with Business/Commerce background number 91, followed by 50 in Economics, 24 in Social Sciences, 21 in Life Sciences, 17 in Humanities, 8 in Math & Computer Science, 6 in Law, 4 in Physical Science and 26 others.

In Industries representation, 92 are from Finance Services, 36 Technology, 35 Consulting, 28 Energy/Natural Resources, 20 Healthcare/Biotech/Pharma, 18 Consumer Goods, 11 each in Not for Profit and Professional Services, 9 each in Real Estate, Retail and Media/Publishing/Entertainment, 7 Telecom, 5 Logistics, 4 Hospitality and 10 others.

The class gender parity is 118 (34%) female and 233 (66%) male. The batch, with an average age of 27, has an average 4.1 years work experience. The average GMAT score stands at 665 and average undergraduate GPA at 3.4.

International students comprise 51% and Canadians 49%. Asians form 34%, South America 14%, Africa 2% and Australia 1% among others.

The class has 38 nationalities represented from 52 birth countries. While 148 students are from Canada, 64 are from India and 34 China, among others.

For MBA, the school says, intellectually curious individuals with high potential for leadership and professional achievement are considered ideal candidates.

Application Process

The Applications are received and processed in five rounds from October to May.

Since admission to Rotman is competitive, the class may become full before the final application deadline date. Therefore, while the final deadline date in the annual application cycle is May 29, it is highly recommended that applicants submit their completed applications as early as possible within the application cycle for the best chance of being admitted.

Applications will not be considered complete until all required elements are received. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) should be written prior to the application deadline.

All international applicants (excluding US Citizens) are highly encouraged to apply by Round Three in order to ensure ample time for visa processing after accepting the offer of admission.

Candidates should possess an Undergraduate Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the final year of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

The official transcript should be sent directly from each institution where the candidate earned a degree. GMAT requirement is waived for applicants who have passed all 3 Levels of the CFA designation. Candidates should have at least two years of work experience but there is no minimum requirement.

Two reference forms, preferably from workplace supervisors, must be completed online by your referees.

Two essays– one traditional written essay and one (3-5 word) reflection question are to be submitted. Required video interview (2 questions) with a new timed written response component (10 minutes in length) is to be submitted.

Regarding English language proficiency, undergraduate or graduate degree from a recognized English language university is to be submitted or TOEFL iBT (internet based test) score of 100 overall, with a minimum of 22 on speaking and writing. IELTS score of 7.0. You must mail a hard copy of your official IELTS score report.

Grade B from Academic English Level 60 at the University of Toronto English Language Program is acceptable in terms of meeting the English facility requirement.

Students in India and Pakistan do not require further proof of English language proficiency if they have graduated from an English-language university.

All candidates who are admitted to the program will be interviewed. Interviews are by invitation only.

Tuition Fees

For Canadian Citizens & Permanent Residents 1st Year Tuition will be $48,480 CAD ($37,330 USD). For International Students $53,370 CAD ($41,095 USD).

The 2nd Year Tuition will be $49,929 CAD ($38,060 USD) for Canadian Citizens & Permanent Residents and for International Students $54,400 CAD ($41,888 USD)

The Total Tuition Fee will be $98,409 CAD ($75,390 USD) for Canadian Citizens & Permanent Residents and for International Students $107,770 CAD ($82,983 USD).
