The full-time MBA at Durham University Business School, UK, offers students 12 or 15-month options that combine theory and practical business experience, besides allowing them to choose personalized career pathways.

The applicants need to have at least three years of graduate work experience, in positions that demonstrate a high degree of responsibility. They should also possess at least a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree, or the international equivalent.

Depending on the candidate, other requirements may include a portfolio demonstrating professional capability, or a GMAT score of at least 600.

The program also boasts of triple accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

The Consultancy pathway will enable you to build your consultancy capability by critically examining the complexities of managing projects in a business context including planning, monitoring, quality control and closure.

It could be personalized through different pathways, including an entrepreneurship pathway, a consultancy pathway, or a technology pathway. Each of these includes specific modules.

The Pathways

The Entrepreneurship pathway designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and capability of management and corporate entrepreneurship, including the ability to create your own new business venture.

You will also have the opportunity to attend master classes run by industry experts, as well as receive one to one mentoring from experts in the industry.

The Consultancy pathway will enable you to build your consultancy capability by critically examining the complexities of managing projects in a business context including planning, monitoring, quality control and closure.

You will explore the intricacies of leadership, culture, change and motivation of project teams. You will also have the opportunity to work within a company where you can put your knowledge and theory into practice.

The Technology pathway will enhance your in-depth knowledge of business-analytics techniques and give you a critical insight into technological innovation. On this pathway, you will increase your range of skills to interpret results and the relevance of them for your company.

You will also develop the ability to choose appropriate techniques to apply to challenges and fully understand the role of technology as a game changer in terms of creating new products or markets.

Apart from the pathways, Durham encourages students to attend language classes and then visit leading international companies to test and examine academic business approaches in global companies.

The trip is designed to allow them to practice their language skills while learning and appreciating business in the global context.

Another highlight of the program is boardroom activity designed to replicate the tensions of a real leadership, enabling students to enhance their management and negotiation skills, while giving them an opportunity to network with experienced business executives.

They also participate in a strategic business project during the course of which they get involved in sourcing, researching and finally coming out with a detailed report on a business project undertaken at a business of their choice.

The program starts in September. The current class has 57 students with an average work experience of 9 years. The average age is 31. International students comprise 95% of the class and women account for 40%. Almost 89% of the graduates find employment within 3 months.
