AMBA accreditation for all programs at Great Lakes, Chennai

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, has been accredited for all its full-time and executive programs by the UK-based Association of MBAs (AMBA).

The programs which have received this international accreditation are the two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and PGPM – Flex program. The accreditation is for a period of four years, valid until 2021.

The PGDM Program also received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) this year.

Earlier in 2014, Great Lakes Chennai received the AMBA accreditation for its flagship one year program – PGPM and for its executive program PGXPM.

The accreditation has placed Great Lakes Chennai among some of the renowned business schools such as INSEAD France, London Business School, HEC Paris, SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milan and IIM Calcutta.

Great Lakes Institute of Management was founded in 2004 by Dr Bala V. Balachandran, a Padma Shri winner, with a vision of providing quality education at an affordable cost and human capital for emerging economies.

After a careful evaluation process, the AMBA board has accredited all the programs offered by the institute starting from the academic year 2017.

Announcing the news, Dr. Bala V Balachandran, Founder, Dean and Chairman, Great Lakes Institute of Management and Chancellor – Great Lakes International University said, “I am extremely proud and delighted that Great Lakes Chennai has received the prestigious AMBA accreditation, thereby joining an elite group of only 2% of top B-Schools in the world to have received this accreditation until now.

All this has happened in a short span of 12 years since Great Lakes’ inception and this shows the quality of our B-School,” he added.

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is a global organisation founded in 1967 which focuses primarily on international business school accreditation and membership, raising its profile and quality standards internationally for the benefit of business schools, students and alumni and employers across the globe.

It has accredited MBA, DBA and MBM programs at 245 graduate business schools in 54 countries and territories. Some of the accredited institutions offer programs in a further 33 countries, which expands AMBA’s global presence to 85 countries.

In 2015, Great Lakes had received international SAQS accreditation from AMDISSA making it one of the few B-Schools in India to receive two prestigious international accreditations.

The institute has 50+ full-time faculty and 130+ visiting faculty including over 20 international faculty from top global schools like Yale, Kellogg, Stanford and Harvard.

Collaborations with Georgia State University, University of Houston, University of Bordeaux, Hongkong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), University of Missouri, Kansas, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago and HHL-Leipzig Graduate School of Management, Germany etc., have helped it in globally benchmarking its programs.

It has a 27.5 acre LEED Platinum rated green campus in Chennai and a 7.5-acre campus in Delhi-NCR. The institute offers One Year full-time MBA for experienced professionals, Two year MBA with the focus on Emerging Markets, Part Time Executive MBA Program, and Weekend Executive MBA Program.
