Accenture Strategy Top Recruiter at IIM Ahmedabad Summer Placements

Accenture Strategy has emerged as the top recruiter in the Summer Placements at IIM Ahmedabad for the Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and Post-Graduate programme in Food and Agri-Business Management (PGP-FABM) cohorts graduating in 2019.  

The Placements, held in 3 clusters from November 6-12, saw 120 students submitting their ‘dream’ applications to firms of their choice in a subsequent cluster even while having an offer in hand.

Accenture Strategy came up with 19 offers. In General Management, RPG Group made 14 offers. In the Retail B2B space, Amazon was the highest recruiter with 12 offers, IIMA said in a press statement.

In Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), FinIQ was the top recruiter with 10 offers. AB InBev recruited nine students to become the highest recruiter in Consumer Goods. Microsoft was the leading recruiter in the Consumer Tech cohort with five offers. Among the global banks, Citibank made five offers.

Telangana State Government made five offers for its Industry & Commerce and ITE & C departments.

Amazon and Flipkart were the major e-commerce recruiters whereas Microsoft and Uber were the key recruiters in the Consumer Tech cohort. The Government of Telangana was the prominent recruiter in the Government Enterprises cohort.

Firms were grouped into cohorts based on the profile offered, and groups of cohorts were invited to the campus across different clusters.

Seven students opted out of the placement process to work on their own ventures, under the guidance and mentorship of IIMA’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE).

Recruiters in the management consulting cohort included Accenture Strategy, AT Kearney, Bain & Co, Deloitte USI, McKinsey, Monitor Deloitte, Strategy& and Boston Consulting Group.

Among recruiters in Banking and markets sector were Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.

PE and VC domain saw Kedaara Capital, Multiples Equity, Temasek and True North, among others, turn up at the placements. Sales and marketing roles were offered by AB InBev, Airtel, HUL, Mondelez, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Star TV and Wipro, among others.

The general management cohort saw participation from the Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, the RPG Group and Tata Administrative Services, among others.

Placement Committee chairperson Asha Kaul stated that a healthy mix of old and new recruiters provided space for the students “to dream, for the first time, of six companies and select the one that matched their aptitude, skill set and competency.”

Recruitment Secretary Sandeep Murisetty pointed out that the number of dream applications was increased this year which helped the students to pursue their career aspirations in diverse sectors.

He said the highlight of the placement season was the active hiring in traditional cohorts like Management Consulting, Private Equity, Asset Management and General Management, apart from more diversified opportunities in cluster 3.

In FABM, one student opted out of the placement to pursue own business idea under the mentorship of CIIE. More than 25 companies participated in the placement process for the batch.

The students opted for roles in Banking & Financial Services, Commodities, Development Farm Equipment, Food industry, FMCG, Inputs, Retail and other sectors
