The Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur (IIM-U) has announced hike in the fees for the 2-year PGP program to Rs 11 lakh from the academic session starting in 2017.

The Institute also decided to increase the number of seats from the present 180 to 240 and accordingly the sections would go up from three to four to accommodate the rising intake. IIM Udaipur’s Admission Policy for 2017 stated that 5% of the seats will be reserved for students from other nationalities.

These 5% seats will be in addition to the 240 reserved for Indian students. Fees for students of foreign origin has been kept at Rs. 15 Lakh for the two year program.

IIM-U justified the fee increase, that has gone up by 1.50 lakh from the earlier Rs. 9.5 lakh, saying that it was needed for maintenance and expenses of its newly constructed buildings. The institute, set up in 2011, would be the first of the six new IIMs to shift to its new campus, that includes hostel accommodation for students, in the first week of January 2017. Academic activities had already started in the new campus from October 2016.

In 2009, the Indian Government had approved the creation of IIM Udaipur. The Institute officially opened in 2011 in a temporary campus at Mohanlal Sukhadia University. The new campus has come up on 300 acres of land allocated by the Rajasthan government in Balicha locality of Udaipur.

During the admission process, the Institute will consider the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 scores (not percentile) of candidates in preparing the short list for Personal Appearance (PA). It comprises Written Analysis (WA) and Personal Interview (PI). The PA process will be common to all the 9 IIMs, namely, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur.

The Merit List will be based on CAT score, PI & WA score and Profile score. The criteria for preparing the Merit List will be CAT Score 55 %, Personal Appearance (WA & PI) 21% and Profile 24%. CAT Score of the candidate divided by Maximum CAT Score among candidates who have applied to IIMU and attended WA & PI.
