IIM Calcutta Final Placements: Consulting Tops Recruitment at 27%

Final Placement for the 2016-18 batch at IIM Calcutta saw Consulting topping the recruitment at 27% with Accenture strategy being the biggest recruiter in the sector.

IIMC said in a release that the placement process was completed in just a little over two days with 100% students finding employment.

More than 130 companies in diversified sectors had come up with a total of 481 offers. Almost 50% of the recruiters were from Consulting and Finance sectors.

Next comes Finance sector with 23% of the total offers. The firms included JP Morgan & Co, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, CitiBank, Credit Suisse, IVFA and Bessemer Venture Partners.

Apart from Accenture, other major recruiters in Consulting included The Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company and AT Kearney.

Next comes Finance sector with 23% of the total offers. The firms included JP Morgan & Co, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, CitiBank, Credit Suisse, IVFA and Bessemer Venture Partners.

Bessemer Venture Partners, the oldest venture capital firm in the US, had participated in the placements at IIM Calcutta for the first time.

Marketing claimed 16% of the batch, General Management 14%, Product Management and Operations 12% and IT & Analytics 8%.

Other major companies that took part in the placement process included Amazon, Uber, Flipkart, Microsoft, Tata Administrative Services, Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Star and Proctor & Gamble.

In the previous year, the class of 2017 (2015-2017 batch) with a total strength of 458 had 6 students opting out of the placement process. As many as 474 offers were made, including 112 lateral placement offers and 130 pre-placement offers. More than 160 firms had participated in the process. The median CTC offer was Rs 20 LPA.
